iPod has been detected but cannot be identified properly

When I connect my iPod the error message I receive is “an iPod has been detected but cannot be identified properly, please disconnect and re connect it”

The first thing to try is to reset your iPod. Open Settings, then General and scroll to the bottom of the list and select Reset.

In the Reset screen select Reset All Settings, confirm you want to reset and then restart the iPod.

If this doesn’t work, it could be another device connected to the computer that is hogging all the power. Try disconnecting all USB devices except for the iPod, restart the computer and see if it works once you restart.

    1. Hi, I have a itouch which was originally 3.1.3 8G (I upgraded to 4.0…. silly me) its jailbroken as well

before I downloaded some software from intallous eg. Mxtube …, it seemed fine, but afterwards this message appeared “an iPod has been detected but cannot be identified properly, please disconnect and re connect it”

after that message, it just stopped showing up on itunes as if there were nothing connected, I was going to reset everything, but i didn’t. then I browsed on a couple of things and I was surprise it stll showed “sync ipod” under file

So I went to FILE then clicked on Sync imports or just sync then it seemed fine afterwards no hassle!~

      I hope this helps
